Chitter Chatter

Hello you lovely bunch!

I wanted to inform you of a few things so though't I'd just do a bit of a (hopefully short) chatty post.

Firstly I want to once again thank you massively for following Lucyloves. I honestly smile like a Cheshire cat every time I get one more follower or comment and I give an announcement to my house about how many followers I have (they don't have a clue what i'm talking about but oh well).

Leading on from this I have already started thinking about what to do as a give away when I (hopefully) reach 100 followers and I need your help! I have a little poll in my sidebar asking your advice, so if you could go click one, it would be hugely appreciated :)

Oooooh! This week is Freshers week, which means lots of partying and catching up with Uni buds, as a result i'm going to be doing a OOTDW (Outfit Of The Day Week)...So i'll be doing an OOTD every day for the next five days.

I am always trying the improve my little bloggy so if you have any ideas at all about posts or the layout or absolutely anything, i'd love to hear them! If you want me to post your button onto my blog let me know!

That is all. Thank you again...

Lots of love, Lucy xx (I know I always say that but really...I love you all!)

Pssst! If you're not following I would love for you to have a little mooch about and if you like my little corner of the blogosphere, follow and throw me a comment and I will most certainly follow you back :)

OOTD | A five year old's party!

Helloooo,

It was my little cousins Birthday party yesterday so it wasn't a formal event, I therefore just threw on some jeans and a denim shirt with a top underneath in case I got too hot. Because they're practically my little brothers they always make me join in on the bouncy castle or something (I'm not complaining, re-living being 5 is always fun) meaning I have to dress to expect anything (getting juice thrown over me, boiling to death e.t.c.)

Jeans - Topshop
Denim Shirt - Primark
Bow Top - H&M
Watch - River Island

Six Money Saving Tips

Hello there :)
Pic courtesy of Google images, I would of taken my own but thought this was so cute!

So I am a student which means that nine times out of ten I have very little money. As a result, over the last year or so, i've come up with a few tips which help me to save a little bit more and I thought I'd share six of them with you...

Number one- Shop around.
You may go into Boots and see an amazing foundation or lipstick which you just need to have, but before you go upto the till with it...have a look around in other shops, somewhere else may have the exact same thing, but cheaper. Look online as well some sites, such as www.fragrancedirect.co.uk, (which is always my go to online site) may also have the same product for much much less. You might only save pence, but hey, look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.

Number two- make a wish list when buying something pricey.
If I see something I desperately want in a shop...I write it down just in my phone or something and go back to it a week or so later. If I still love it and want it bad, (and have the money of course) I get it. Sometimes you find that it's love at first sight but after a while once you've been away from it for a bit, you kinda get over it. Or you may find something even better in the mean time. If it's something little or something I really do need such as make up wipes or bodywash, I obviously don't do this, but if it's a £50 coat or £15 lipstick, it really does save you some money.

Number 3- If you don't love it, don't buy it.
This is one which has really saved me some moolah recently. Do you ever walk around the shops see something pretty, snap it up and then it's still in your wardrobe 3 months later, unworn, because it's unflattering or you don't really like the colour....Yeah, me too! This tip is hard to do especially when you're on a bit of a shopping spree but it will save you quite a bit honest. Whenever you see something and have that 'ooh I need it' feeling, just think about weather you actually love it, does your heart pound and you feel like you want to cry/ hug it and never let it go? because if not...PUT IT DOWN AND MOVE AWAY! If so...walk around with it for a bit...if the thought of putting it down still makes you want to scream and have a tantrum, then you are the proud new owner of that pair of shoes/top/jacket...or whatever.

Number 4- Put some money aside for Emergencies.
When you get paid/get your student finance/pocket money...or whatever...Put say 20% of it to one side and do not touch it. Go crazy (but not too crazy, still follow the other tips like) with the rest...and you still have that 20% there in case you run out of food or something. Simple as that :)

Number 5- Read reviews.
Before you buy something new read reviews other people have written about it and you may change your mind. You might find the lipstick is really drying or the shampoo smells gross.  This tip is as simple as that.

Number six- Look for dupes.
There are lots of dupes for more expensive things out there and some are just as amazing but are just a fraction of the price. I find that I don't really think about dupes when I'm out shopping, I see something I love and buy it without thinking like "Maybe they have a coat very similar to this is Primark?" But if you get into the habit of thinking about it, you should find you save quite a bit.

And that is it :) I hope these tips helps you somehow.

Thanks for reading

Ten Day You challenge | Day Six

Day Six | Five foods

I am a really rather picky eater and I always have been (I'm sat here now, picking the fat of a bacon sandwich) never the less I eat like a horse and could snack for ever and ever. I have also found a very good vacuum in my boyfriend Liam who is not picky at all and eats anything I leave (sometimes it's quite gross, haha). I do love food and often look forward to eating during the day, which is quite sad. So anyway...

1. Sunday roast - This is not so much a food as a meal...but I don't love one thing in a Sunday roast more than another. I have alwaaays had one, we used to go to my nans every week and she would do one, but now we stay at home or go out, never the less, it is my favourite meal in the world, I love vegetables and meat and different variations of potatoes...so it's pretty much heaven on a plate to me.

2.Sweets - I love sweets, I much prefer sweets to chocolate and I blame this on my mum because she always bought me and my brother a few little sweets a week and rarely gave us chocolate instead. I mean I love chocolate, I just love sweets more. Especially Randoms and Giant Strawbs and now my mouth is watering!

3. Mum's chips - I have always loved mum's chips. I really dislike any other kind, including oven and fried and whatever else, but there's something about home made ones which are really moreish. I could eat them for all of eternity.

4. Subway - I do love subway, A chicken Tikka footlong toasted with no cheese (I really hate melted cheese) with lettuce cucumber and red onions...to be precise. I love how sweet the bread is although I also know that Subways are pretty well known for their high levels of salt, so I only have one on occasions, but i'd rather a subway than a McDonalds.

5. Banana frittas - I LOVE banana everything, milkshake, ice cream, yoghurt and these things which are the holy grail of banana goodness (or maybe badness because they're sort of bad for you). They are simply deep fried bananas which you may be wincing at but on no I promise you...these things are amaaaaaaazing! The batter is lovely and crisp and the banana is warm but not all that mushy. It's just delicious, especially swirled with golden syrup. There was a little tiny store which sold them on holiday and we'd have one every year the day before going home. If you ever get the chance to try one...do it!

Thank you for reading :) I do hope your Saturday is fab so far :)

How I clean my brushes

Hey Guys :)

So yesterday I did a 'My favourite make up brushes' post (which you can find here, if you're interested) so I thought i'd carry it on today, showing you how I clean them :).

I use a mix of washing up liquid and face wash. I've never seen washing up liquid used before but it really is great for cleaning brushes. I would bore you with the science behind it but we all know that fairy liquid is used to get rid of grease and oil and such things, which means when used on brushes, it helps to pull off oily make ups like foundation. It's also gentle so won't damage the brush fibres.

So firstly I start by squirting some fairy liquid (or washing up liquid, whichever you prefer to say) over the brushes and rub this into the bristles, much like when you shampoo your own hair. The brushes however are dry so won't foam, this allows for the liquid to start pulling off the make up.

After this I fill the sink with cool water (very hot may possibly melt the glue which holds the bristles in) and put the brushes in to soak for a few minutes.

I then swirl the brushes in the palm of my hand untill the water coming out of them stops looking either foundationey or blushery or whatever-else, coloured, I then use my fingers and rub the bristles again ensuring that the middle bristles are washed too. I then change the water and put the brushes into the sink to rinse off.

Following this I take a blob of face wash. This is antibacterial so keeps my brushes clean and stops me transferring bacteria from the brush to my face. I do the same technique with this, swirling each brush into my hand before thoroughly rinsing the brush under the tap ensuring all of the soap is out of them.
.

Once they've all been washed and are completely clean, I take them in a towel and one at a time gently squeeze them getting rid of any excess water

To finish off I put a hair bobble around any bottle or anything which stands up right and place my brushes under it so that the top of the brush is pointing down. This means that when it's drying, the water doesn't seep into the glued part as this could make the bristles become loose. I leave the brushes like this until they have dried and that is it :)

Thank you very much for reading. If you've done a post or video on how you clean your brushes link me to it, i'm always interested to see other people's ideas.

My Favourite Brushes

Helloo guys

I'm lacking in ideas a bit recently. Uni is about to start after 4 beautiful months away from it and the thought sucks. I also went a bit crazy this month and spent all of my money in like 2 weeks so I need to wait a bit before I can buy more things to be able to review/haul/whatever else. I am sorry for that but do not fear I shall be up to date with my beauty and fashion posts in no time. I thought today, considering they're things I already have, I'd do a bit of a show and tell/ review of my favourite brushes which I use on a daily basis.

I shall go from left to right.....

So firstly it's the Real Techniques Stippling Brush. This is the brush I use for my foundation on a daily basis. The Real Techniques brushes are super soft and amazing quality. This brush has sort of 2 layers of bristles which really helps to blend foundation.

Secondly is this random little brush I got as part of a set for Christmas they are apparently some what expensive (my Uncle could however have just been saying that to get into my good books) and this one is called 'fluff and buff'. It's made of natural fibres so can be a little scratchy, although i've washed this one so many times it's pretty soft now. It is rather fluffy and does a good job at blending eyeshadow.

Thirdly is a Real Techniques buffing brush. This is again super soft, like stupidly soft. I typically use this as a powder brush to set my foundation. It's a very nifty little thing. It picks up the powder good and really buffs it into the skin (odd really considering it's a buffing brush -_-). But it doesn't make your face look cakey or anything, which is very good.

Fourthly is an eco tools 'rounded shader brush'. This little gem is a very dense brush so is great for putting eyeshadow all over the lids. The edge is rounded and so is handy for using in the crease.

Fifthly (Is that really a word!?) is the Ecotools angled eyeliner brush. This is again pretty dense so is good for putting on gel liner, this is pretty much all I have to say about this one.

Sixthly is an Ecotools powder brush. I use this for putting on powder blush. It is super-dee-duper soft and doesn't malt. It is again pretty dense but manages to blend my blusher in well. The top is pretty rounded and so could probably also be used as a contour brush.

In seventh is this random little (Bobby Pin I believe) eyeshadow brush I must have gotten in a set for Christmas some years ago. I am not joking it is THE softest brush ever! It has also never malted on me once which is pretty amazing considering it just came as part of a Christmas gift set. It is again rounded and so I usually use this as either an crease brush or a buffing brush.

Finally The real Techniques contour brush. This is the perfect shape for contouring, it is pretty small and rounded allowing you to only get the bronzer/blush where you want it with good precision.

Thank you very very much for reading. Let me know your thoughts on these brushes, or if you have any which could rival my favourites.
